In November 2025, the first peer-to-peer dataspace transaction between Korea and Europe was completed, with L&F (Korea) sharing product carbon footprint data with the automotive division of a major European Tier 1. Orchestrated by Prof. Chaisung Lim of Konkuk University and enabled by T-Systems' Dataspace-as-a-Service, the exchange ran on the Eclipse Tractus-X stack with the IDSA protocol and Gaia-X trust framework — the same standards underpinning Catena-X. The transaction proves that sovereign, governed data sharing can now travel across regions and regulatory environments without centralising data or surrendering control. Beyond secure, trusted file transfer, it points to a strategic foundation for AI-ready data and new value-creation scenarios, including controlled collaboration across ecosystems and even between competitors.

Japan has long been a global leader in robotics, combining cultural influence with industrial strength as both a major user and producer of robotic technologies. Building on this foundation, the RoX initiative introduces a new paradigm in robotics by integrating physical AI with secure, interoperable data ecosystems. Presented through webinars with leading Japanese institutions—Kyoto University’s KUPAC and the Robot Revolution & Industrial IoT Initiative (RRI)—RoX highlights how next-generation robotics depends not only on hardware but on access to high-quality operational data governed through trusted dataspaces. By enabling collaboration across organizations while protecting intellectual property, RoX supports modular development, lifecycle integration, and improved industrial performance. Early demonstrations show tangible benefits in efficiency, adaptability, and quality, positioning RoX as a key step toward scalable, AI-driven robotics within global data-sharing ecosystems.

In December 2025, T-Systems advanced Catena-X adoption in Asia through two key events: the Catena-X Supplier Onboarding Day in Tokyo and the Global Data Spaces Roundtable in Beijing. From practical supplier onboarding to large-scale automotive pilots in China, discussions focused on regulatory pressure, data sovereignty, and secure cross-company data exchange. Together with partners such as Siemens, BMW Group, BASF, and Flex, T-Systems demonstrated how trusted dataspaces enable scalable, compliant collaboration across global automotive value chains.

The Catena-X taskforce, together with CAAM, launched the “China Automotive Industry Trusted Data Space” pilot at IAA Munich, enabling secure, compliant, and scalable local data exchange for Chinese OEMs and suppliers, starting with Certificate Management. Early results show faster, traceable, and machine-readable certificate transactions, laying the foundation for future quality, sustainability, and PCF use cases.

T-Systems has launched its Connect & Integrate service on local infrastructure in China, enabling Chinese suppliers and manufacturers to securely and efficiently join the Catena-X ecosystem, bridging connectivity with global OEMs while ensuring data sovereignty and regulatory compliance.

T-Systems and NTT Communications are collaborating to accelerate the development of data ecosystems in Japan by providing a cloud-based dataspace test environment. Using open-source software from the Eclipse Foundation, the test environment, operated in Germany, allows Japanese organizations to explore dataspace interoperability and connect with European initiatives like Gaia-X. The collaboration aims to foster data sovereignty, increase developers and users, and facilitate multi-regional dataspace integration.
