Data Spaces Week 2024 – Empowering data-driven collaboration across borders

We are excited to announce our participation in Data Spaces Week 2024, a series of events taking place in Tokyo, Japan, from October 7 to October 17. This initiative is organized by the Data Society Alliance (DSA), the Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies at the University of Tokyo, the Asia Open Data Partnership (AODP), the International Data Spaces Association (IDSA), IEEE, and the International Open Forum on Data Society (IOFDS). The week-long event aims to promote international dataspace initiatives and foster collaboration between Asia and Europe to establish a global data-driven society.

We are partnering with NTT Communications to provide a test environment for dataspaces in Japan, which will accelerate the construction of new data ecosystems and enable seamless connectivity between dataspaces in Europe and Japan. For more information, read the official press release here.

Our presence at Data Spaces Week underscores our commitment to empowering Japanese companies by bringing European dataspace expertise and capabilities, creating opportunities for collaboration and value creation through data-driven solutions.

Data Space Discovery Day Tokyo (Oct 7-11)

In collaboration with the University of Tokyo, the Asia Open Data Partnership (AODP), the International Data Spaces Association (IDSA), IEEE, and the International Open Forum on Data Society (IOFDS), the Data Space Discovery Day Tokyo aims to advance international dataspace initiatives and promote cross-border data sharing.

Dandan Wang, Specialist Solutions Architect at Telekom Data Intelligence Hub will participate in the panel discussion "Expansion of Data Spaces in Japan" on October 9 from 15:15 to 16:45. This session will focus on cross-border data sharing, technical interoperability, and the potential of enabling dataspaces in Japan. It will feature insights from industry leaders and discuss the opportunities for cross-border collaboration.

During our presentation, we will highlight our involvement in dataspace initiatives across countries and industries. We will demonstrate how we enable companies to go beyond simply connecting to dataspaces by allowing them to build their own business applications and use cases, without the technical complexities. Attendees will gain insight into our success stories and learn how they can get started with dataspaces to drive value creation.

International Open Forum on Data Society (IOFD) (Oct 10-11)

The International Open Forum on Data Society (IOFD) will bring together key members from Japan and Europe to discuss the future of dataspaces, focusing on topics like data brokering, data trading, regulation and governance, standardization, interoperability, and trust frameworks for data use. This event is jointly hosted by the Data Society Alliance (DSA), IEEE SA P3800 WG, and the Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies at the University of Tokyo.

Sven Löffler, Director for Dataspaces and Data Products at T-Systems will give the presentation “Global Expansion of Data Spaces” on October 10 from 15:30 to 16:30. This session will provide an overview of our global initiatives, emphasizing our efforts to enable data sharing and collaboration beyond Europe, including regions such as the US, China, and Japan. We will share our experiences and strategies for creating interoperable, secure, and trusted data ecosystems, outlining the roadmap for fostering international cooperation and alignment on data standards. Through our participation, we aim to promote the adoption and expansion of dataspaces as a key enabler of the digital economy, contributing to a sustainable and data-driven global society.

NTT DoCoMo Business Forum (Oct 10-11)

At the NTT DoCoMo Business Forum, NTT Communications will present its vision for "an affordable future" enabled by digital transformation through three key themes: showcasing advanced technologies like AI and IoT for business innovation, AI-based solutions to enhance employee experience, and next-generation enterprise platforms, including energy-efficient data centers and zero-trust networks.

Although our role at the forum is primarily as an attendee, we will be present to support our partners at NTT Communications as they highlight the multiple benefits of our data sharing solutions and their potential to transform industries. We look forward to engaging with companies and exploring how our combined expertise can help them harness the power of dataspaces.

RRI International Member Meeting (Oct 15)

The RRI International Member Meeting is a platform for industry leaders and innovators to exchange ideas and collaborate on driving the next stage of industrial and digital transformation.

Sven Löffler, Director for Dataspaces and Data Products at T-Systems and Dandan Wang, Specialist Solutions Architect at Telekom Data Intelligence Hub, will deliver a presentation from 10:00 to 12:00, focusing on the development of applications and use cases that empower companies to leverage dataspaces effectively. Drawing from our experience in key manufacturing initiatives such as Umati, Manufacturing-X, Factory-X, and Aerospace-X, we will share valuable insights on how companies can move beyond basic data sharing and start building business applications that generate real-world value.

Robot Revolution & Industrial IoT International Symposium 2024 (Oct 17)

The International Symposium on the Robot Revolution and Industrial IoT 2024, held under the theme “Call for Action: Manufacturing Transformation toward Social Innovation,” will explore the need for the manufacturing industry to undergo business transformation through effective data utilization. As IoT adoption and technological innovations accelerate, countries globally are emphasizing interoperability and sustainability, and developing new ecosystems based on data sharing.

The symposium will gather leaders and experts from Japan and abroad to discuss strategies for building a robust, data-driven ecosystem. While we will be attending as an audience, we look forward to engaging with industry leaders and exploring opportunities for future cooperation.

We are excited to participate in all these events and deeply appreciate the organizers for including us in multiple sessions. We encourage companies to reach out to us and discuss how we can support their journey towards becoming data-driven organizations. Please contact us for more information or to arrange a meeting during any of the events.
