Service Set Identifier

Glossary Page

An individually selectable name for a service set that identifies a device in the WLAN. A wireless access point can usually support multiple SSIDs simultaneously, allowing the setup of multiple virtual local area networks. A common scenario is the provision of a guest WLAN alongside at least one other WLAN.
