According to the Federal Network Agency, the term refers to the area outside the power grid in which energy volumes or associated services are traded between different market participants on the basis of available grid capacity. In the future, in addition to producers, consumers and prosumers, a variety of different service providers could also be active in these markets, such as energy efficiency service providers, aggregators and others.
