Eine Verbindung mittels Glasfaserkabel bis zum Gebäude wird als "Fiber to the Building" (FTTB) bezeichnet. Abhängig davon, wie nah der DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) am Teilnehmer ist, wird die Verbindung als "Fiber to the Curb" (FTTC) oder "Fiber to the Node" (FTTN) bezeichnet. Bei FTTB steht der DSLAM im Keller eines Mehrfamilienhauses.
