Eine Mensch-Maschine-Schnittstelle (Human Machine Interface, HMI) ist eine Vorrichtung oder ein System, das es Einzelpersonen ermöglicht, mit technischen Geräten zu interagieren und dabei als funktionale Verbindung zwischen Mensch und Maschine dient. Die Komponenten eines HMI umfassen in der Regel mechanische und elektronische Elemente sowie eine grafische Benutzeroberfläche. Aus diesem Grund beschäftigen sich verschiedene wissenschaftliche Disziplinen, von der Informatik bis zur Ergonomie, mit diesem Forschungsbereich.
