The positive prognosis for viticulture

Challenges

To create optimal conditions for wine growing, all factors must be correct. These include weather, air and soil conditions.
These external factors cannot be controlled, only a reaction is possible.
If extreme cases of these factors occur, the harvest yield can decrease and thus also the turnover.
If pests attack the plant, sales are also lost. If the pest infestation is not noticed until late, the deficit in sales will increase.

Solution

In order to ensure efficient production, various data are collected from wine cultivation. Sensors are used to measure temperature or humidity. These can be enriched by weather data from IBM, for example. Not only real-time data play a role here, but also historical or forecast data, which can be used to make long-term statements in order to adjust the production conditions if necessary. In this way, correlations can be uncovered and conclusions are drawn. In addition, predictions are made about the growth rate, whereby production and sales can be controlled.

Advantages of the Data Intelligence Hub

The Data Intelligence Hub provides various data, such as regional weather data and forecasts. These can be enriched and analyzed with the vineyard’s own sensor data and other data sources directly in the Data Intelligence Hub.
Thus, not only the current stock can be controlled, but also forecasts can be made. Critical data sets are used to plan for possible errors. The data are monitored via a dashboard in the Data Intelligence Hub so that anomalies are directly visible and measures can be taken quickly to counteract negative consequences.
