Die Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) ist eine Spezifikation für Schnittstellen von Kabelmodems und zugehörigen Peripheriegeräten, die von Cable Labs etwa 1997 entwickelt wurde und im März 1998 von der ITU (ITU-T Recommendation J.112) ratifiziert wurde. DOCSIS ist ein Breitbandkabelnetz-Standard, der die Anforderungen für Datenübertragungen festlegt. Der Hauptanwendungsbereich von DOCSIS liegt in der schnellen Datenübertragung über bestehende Kabelfernsehnetze.
