Datenbank als Service (DBaaS) ist eine Methode zur Speicherung und Verwaltung strukturierter Daten unter Verwendung von Cloud-Computing. Ähnlich wie traditionelle relationale Datenbankmanagementsysteme (RDBMS) wie SQL Server, MySQL und Oracle bietet DBaaS Datenbankfunktionalität. Als cloudbasierte Lösung ist DBaaS jedoch äußerst flexibel, skalierbar und bedarfsgesteuert und legt dabei einen Schwerpunkt auf Self-Service und vereinfachtes Management, insbesondere bei der Bereitstellung einer eigenen Umgebung für ein Unternehmen. Die meisten DBaaS-Lösungen umfassen Überwachungsfunktionen zur Verfolgung von Leistung und Nutzung sowie zur Benachrichtigung von Benutzern über potenzielle Probleme. Darüber hinaus können DBaaS-Produkte bis zu einem gewissen Grad Datenanalyse bieten.
