Die Logistik, die sowohl den Transport als auch die Lagerung umfasst, wird nicht als direkter Teil des Produktionsprozesses im Sinne der Herstellung des Endprodukts betrachtet. Sie ist jedoch ein notwendiger Bestandteil des gesamten Produktionssystems, um den Transport von Komponenten und Zwischenprodukten zwischen den Modulen sowie die Zwischenlagerung zu erleichtern. Logistische Überlegungen müssen die Anforderungen jedes Moduls und Zwischenprodukts, wie Größe, Gewicht und Transportmethoden, berücksichtigen und in die Verarbeitungslogik des Produktionssystems integriert werden.
