Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) bezieht sich auf eine Art von Datenbanktransaktionen. OLTP ist gekennzeichnet durch eine Kombination von Lese- und Schreibabfragen mit einer geringen Anzahl von Zeilen, die in der Regel mit Indexstrukturen verarbeitet werden. Im Gegensatz dazu bezieht sich OLAP auf die Verarbeitung von analytischen Abfragen.
