Ein PersistentVolume (PV) ist ein Kubernetes-API-Objekt, das Speicher innerhalb eines Clusters darstellt. Im Gegensatz zu Speicher, der spezifisch für einen einzelnen Pod ist, sind PVs eine allgemeine Ressource, die über den Lebenszyklus eines bestimmten Pods hinaus bestehen bleibt. Die PV-API abstrahiert die Details der Bereitstellung von Speicher, unabhängig davon, wie er verbraucht wird. PVs werden in erster Linie in Fällen verwendet, in denen Speicher im Voraus statisch bereitgestellt werden kann. Wenn jedoch On-Demand-Speicher erforderlich ist, verwendet Kubernetes stattdessen PersistentVolumeClaims (PVCs).
