Reports sind strukturierte (Detail-) Berichte, die eine analytische Aufbereitung bieten, meist in Form von Tabellen und einer Kombination aus tabellarischen und grafischen Elementen mit Textblöcken. In der traditionellen Verwendung werden diese oft gedruckt oder intern per E-Mail-Anhang verteilt. Als Datenquelle dienen in der Regel strukturierte Daten, die zusammengefasst und beispielsweise als Dashboard visualisiert werden können. Reports werden ad hoc oder regelmäßig, entweder periodisch oder aufgrund spezifischer Anforderungen genutzt. Diese Kategorie ist nicht neu und hat faktisch den Markt für Business Intelligence begründet.
