Catena-X Next mid-term event 2025: Driving seamless data collaboration

Most Popular Insights

On October 1, T-Systems participated in the Catena-X Next mid-term event alongside BMW and Cofinity-X. The mid-term event marked a key milestone in the Catena-X Next program, presenting the latest results, achieved across the various Catena-X use cases. As part of this, T-Systems showcased progress on the Company Certificate Management use case.

The challenge of managing certificates across partners

Certificates such as ISO 9001 or TISAX play a crucial role in verifying company qualifications and enabling trusted collaboration in digital ecosystems. However, exchanging these certificates across multiple partners has traditionally been:

  • Manual and repetitive
  • Prone to errors and inconsistencies
  • Difficult to integrate into various partner systems

These challenges increase operational effort, slow down onboarding, and can undermine trust across complex supply chains.

Simplifying trust: Automated Certificate Management in Catena-X

Using Connect & Integrate, certificates can be published once in a shared, standardized format and securely retrieved by authorized partners.

In the demo, BMW accessed a company certificate directly within their systems — showcasing how standardized, automated certificate management simplifies collaboration across the #CatenaX network.

Key features of the solution include:

  • Standardized exchange: A common semantic model ensures consistent interpretation across partners.
  • Publish once, share broadly: One standardized source for all partners instead of multiple manual exchanges.
  • Secure access: Peer-to-peer communication via industry-leading frameworks.
  • Seamless integration: Works smoothly with existing backend systems and partner tools.
  • Managed services: End-to-end support built on Deutsche Telekom’s secure infrastructure.

Demo highlights: From upload to real-time retrieval

The live demonstration illustrated a fully automated process:

  1. Certificates uploaded via Connect & Integrate
  2. BMW retrieves the certificate in real time
  3. Automated lifecycle updates and revocation in action

Standardized company certificate management delivers measurable value for all partners:

  • Trustful: Reliable and secure verification of company credentials
  • Plug-and-play: Faster onboarding of new partners
  • Cloud-agnostic: Works across cloud or on-premises environments
  • Compliant: Fully aligned with Catena-X, IDSA, and GAIA-X standards

Take action: Secure, scalable and compliant data exchange

The Catena-X Next mid-term event 2025 demonstrated how standardized certificate management forms a foundation for secure, scalable, and compliant collaboration within the automotive data ecosystem.
